Why fresh start clearance is different
It is different in tone, not in technique. The clearance work is the same — same crew, same vehicles, same waste handling. But the intent matters. Fresh start clearance is the client's way of saying 'I want a clean break, and I want the people doing this to understand that'. We do — and the way we treat the property reflects it. Less reverence, more decisiveness. Less 'this might be important', more 'is this part of the next chapter, or not?'.
Common reasons for a fresh start clearance
After a difficult divorce, where the family home needs to be cleared of one partner's belongings and reset for whoever is staying. After the death of a parent whose presence in the home dominated everyone around them, where the clearance is part of finally feeling free. After a period of mental-health crisis or addiction, where the physical state of the home reflected the inner state, and a reset is part of the recovery. After moving into a property purchased from someone else's estate, where you want it to be properly your home before you move in.
Whole-house, room-by-room, or category-based
Three common scopes. Whole-house: everything goes except what the client lists as keeping. Room-by-room: one room at a time, deep decision-making in each, redecoration before moving to the next. Category-based: a person's clothes, a person's papers, a person's hobbies — clearing everything related to one individual while leaving everything else intact. We can quote any of these and switch between them if a project evolves.
Coordinating with redecoration and removals
Many fresh start clearances run alongside redecoration of the property — new carpet, fresh paint, sometimes new furniture. We can coordinate timing with your contractors so the clearance completes the day before the decorators arrive, and so the carpet fitters arrive the day after the paint dries. For partial moves (where you're leaving the property entirely) we can coordinate with a removals company for the items you're taking, handling everything else as the clearance.
What the property looks like at the end
Empty, deep-cleaned, smell-neutral, ready for whatever comes next. Carpets steam-cleaned where they're staying, removed where they aren't. Walls washed. Windows cleaned inside. Kitchen and bathroom sanitised. The property hands back like a hotel room on the first morning of a stay — fresh, anonymous, ready to be made yours.

How quickly can you do a fresh start clearance?
A typical three-bedroom property is cleared, cleaned and ready within five to seven working days. Faster turnaround is available where you're working to a redecoration or move-in deadline.
Will you keep items if I change my mind during the clearance?
Yes, of course. Fresh start doesn't mean ruthless — many clients identify items mid-clearance that they want to keep after all, and we honour that without complaint.
Can you handle the disposal of an ex-partner's belongings?
Yes. Where you have lawful authority to dispose of them (typically because they have been left for an extended period and reasonable notice has been served under the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977) we will handle the clearance with full documentation.
Do you arrange redecoration?
We don't do decorating ourselves, but we have partner decorators we work with regularly. We can coordinate timing and supply you with quotes, or work alongside a decorator of your choice.
Will the property be ready to live in immediately afterwards?
Yes, if it had been a habitable property to begin with. We hand back deep-cleaned and ready. Where the property needed major remedial work (damp, plumbing, electrics) those would be separate jobs for specialist contractors.
